A commercial EICR gives you a clear picture of the condition of your fixed electrics. DP Electrical Specialists can inspect your premises and talk you through the results
What to expect during a commercial EICR at your Leeds premises
For a small commercial inspection in Leeds, budget from around £250; a two-storey office may cost more depending on the number of circuits, boards and access.
What happens during a commercial EICR inspection?
Picture an office unit over two floors at Thorpe Park Leeds. Before we start, we’ll have a chat about the building, its electrical history and how your team uses each area. We’ll agree what’s included and sort practical details, such as access to locked rooms and whether circuits can be switched off. Some tests may briefly interrupt power, so wherever possible, we’ll plan around your working day.
We’ll inspect the fixed electrical installation. This can include distribution boards, wiring, sockets, switches, lighting, protective devices, earthing and bonding. We’re looking for damage, wear, overheating, poor alterations or anything else that could affect safety.
Then comes testing. Depending on the installation and agreed scope, circuits may need to be isolated so we can test them safely. We’ll let you know what to expect beforehand. This inspection covers the fixed wiring; it isn’t the same as PAT testing appliances such as computers or kettles.
What will a Commercial EICR Leeds report tell me?
You’ll receive an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) recording the results, observations and an overall assessment of whether the installation is satisfactory for continued use. If anything needs attention, standard codes help explain how urgent it is.
C1 means danger is present and needs immediate action. C2 means potentially dangerous and requires urgent remedial work. FI means further investigation is needed without delay. C3 recommends an improvement; on its own, it doesn’t make the report unsatisfactory.
What if a Commercial EICR Leeds inspection finds problems?
C1 or C2 observations, or an FI item, mean the installation is assessed as unsatisfactory until the required action is taken. We’ll talk you through the findings and explain the options for addressing them. Remedial work is quoted separately, so you can see what the inspection covers and what any follow-up would involve.
At the Thorpe Park office, for example, we’d explain which circuits or areas need attention and help plan repairs around staff and day-to-day operations. Once work is complete, relevant testing and certification can confirm what’s been addressed.
