Our Solar PV installers are known for their outstanding knowledge of solar PV and battery storage systems - from installation methods to maintenance. Across Leeds we’re known as being the go-to experts for residential solar PV installations and in this blog we’ll show you why!

Our solar PV installation process:

The biggest part of any solar PV job is the installation process. Every home is different and so will require a unique installation. Each project will start with an initial inspection during which we’ll decide if solar panels are the right option for you. Unfortunately, not all homes are suitable. Your home’s roof will need to be:

  • Ideally south facing, but east or west are still strongly considered. It all depends on your energy demands.
  • Free from shade.
  • In a good, strong condition. Solar panels are extremely heavy.

While the direction your roof faces plays a role in how much electricity your panels can generate, shading can have an even bigger impact! For example, a south facing roof that’s shaded during the day may end up generating less power than an east or west facing roof with full sun exposure. If you’re unsure if solar panels may work for you, it’s always best to check with your local solar PV installer first.

Assuming we’ve given you a green light, we’ll then begin planning the solar PV installation. This will mainly consist of:

  • Figuring out how many panels you require.
  • Whether the system will consist of just panels or be installed alongside a battery storage system.
  • Understanding what your goals are - whether you’d like to save on energy as much as possible or you’re just looking at ways to run your home in a more sustainable way.
  • If you need planning permission - not all homes will but listed buildings or those placed in a conservation area will.
  • Your budget and eligibility for government grants.

Once we’ve planned and designed your solar PV system, the next step will be to get scaffolding erected and an installation date booked in with us.

Once installation day arrives, the whole process is generally completed within 1-2 days. Our solar PV installers will start by mounting brackets to your roof, this is what keeps the panels in place, safely and securely. Then, the panels will be mounted to these brackets and the technical work begins. The inverter will be connected to your home's electrical system - this is what turns DC electricity generated by the panels into AC electricity for you to use in your home. If you’re adding battery storage to your system, we’ll then move onto this. Once all the components have been fitted, the testing and certification will start. Certification copies will then be provided to you.

Post installation maintenance & support

Once we’ve installed your solar PV system, we’ll continue to support you post installation. Got a question regarding the system? Just give us a call. We’ll even check in with you a few days later to double check no issues have arisen.
